Soy mi lengua ~By Elizabeth Jiménez Montelongo

Soy mi lengua, mis palabras

Words of love of hopes and dreams

The requests and lies that have

Passed through my lips

The words of understanding and love

Of frustration and anger

Hopeful words, loving words

Welcoming words, dismissive words

Soy mi lengua and my words

But also, I am the palabras

I’ve kept to myself

When I could try to explain

To justify, to discuss

But also,

They understand it all the wrong way

Anyway

So I say nothing

Soy las palabras que no dije

cuando me faltaron el respeto

Solo me callé y me fui

I am the words I can’t say yet

Because timing is everything

And also hinting it

Is sometimes more effective

Soy mi lengua

Lengua de dos filos

Si lo que digo me afecta

Lo que digo y no digo cambia mi destino

Así que cuido mi lengua

Y también la afilo
